Download Instagram Reels to your camera roll

Copy a permitted public Reel link, download the MP4 in your browser, then open the completed file from Downloads and choose Save Video or the equivalent gallery action. Vidlune sends the file to your browser; it cannot write directly into Photos or your camera roll.

The important distinction

Instagram Save is not a camera-roll download

Instagram’s Save bookmark keeps a post inside your Instagram account. A downloaded MP4 is a local file handled by your browser and your phone’s file system. If you tapped Save in Instagram and cannot find a video in Photos, that is expected: the bookmark and the file download are different actions.

For a local copy, use the Instagram Reels Downloader with one direct public Reel URL. Do not provide an Instagram password, cookie or access token to make a private post downloadable.

iPhone

Move the MP4 from Files into Photos

  1. Open the public Reel, use Share and choose Copy link.
  2. Open Vidlune in Safari, paste the link and tap Download MP4.
  3. Wait for the download to finish, then open the Files app and check Downloads under iCloud Drive or On My iPhone.
  4. Open the MP4, tap Share and choose Save Video when iOS offers that action.

The browser download normally appears in Files before it appears in Photos. If you cannot see Save Video, first confirm that the download is complete and that you opened the local MP4 rather than a web preview.

Android

Find the MP4 in Downloads or your gallery

  1. Copy the public Reel link from Instagram.
  2. Open Vidlune in Chrome, paste the link and tap Download MP4.
  3. Open Chrome’s download tray or the Files app and select Downloads.
  4. Open the MP4 from there. If your gallery does not index the Downloads folder, use Files to copy or move the file into DCIM/Camera.

Android gallery and file-manager menus vary by manufacturer. The reliable first place to check is the browser’s Downloads screen, not the Instagram app.

If it is missing

Check the browser before submitting again

No file yet
Keep the tab open until processing finishes. A refresh can interrupt the request.
Private or deleted Reel
The link must open while signed out. Private, deleted and login-gated media are outside the supported public-link workflow.
Wrong kind of link
Use the individual Reel URL, not a profile, Explore page, Story, photo or image-only carousel.
File downloads but will not open
Check that it is an MP4 and retry once on a stable connection. Do not install an unknown extension or app to “unlock” it.
Quality or audio differs
The MP4 depends on the public source Instagram exposes. A downloader cannot restore detail or audio that is absent from that source.
Daily allowance
Vidlune currently permits three successful downloads per rolling 24 hours on the free tier; failed links do not count.

A saved file does not transfer ownership

Download only media you own, have permission to save or are otherwise legally allowed to use. Moving an MP4 into Photos or a camera folder does not grant permission to repost, sell or remove creator attribution. See Instagram’s Terms of Use and Vidlune’s Terms of Use.
