Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to download Instagram Reels?
No. Public Reels and feed videos download with just the URL. ReelDrop never asks for your Instagram password.
Can you download private Instagram content?
No. We do not bypass private accounts, follower restrictions or Close Friends lists. This is a deliberate privacy boundary, not a workaround to defeat.
Why can't I download Stories or Highlights?
Instagram serves Stories and Highlights behind an account session. They are coming later only with a safe, short-lived server-side authorization flow; ReelDrop will never store your Instagram password.
Is there a 4K Instagram downloader?
No. Instagram does not encode above 1080p, so 1080p is the highest real source quality. A tool advertising 4K is upscaling rather than fetching a real Instagram source.
Can I save an entire carousel?
Not in this MVP. Carousel ZIP downloads are planned for a later release; this version downloads one public Reel or feed video as MP4.
Can I download a photo or extract MP3?
Not yet. Photo JPG, carousel ZIP and MP3 extraction are planned Pro features and are disabled in the downloader until they are available.
Do you add or remove a watermark?
No. Instagram does not add a platform watermark to Reels in the way TikTok does, and ReelDrop adds, removes and alters nothing.
Is this allowed?
Only download content you own or have permission to save. Downloading a file does not grant permission to republish it or override Instagram's terms.
