Pick by the job you need done
A Reel link and an account export solve different problems
- Save one public Reel
- Use a direct public Reel URL when you need that individual video. Vidlune accepts one supported public link at a time and returns an MP4 attachment to your browser.
- Back up your own Instagram information
- Use Instagram’s official information-download flow from Accounts Center. Meta says Download Your Information is managed there and can include information from Instagram accounts.
- Save a private or login-gated Reel
- Do not send account credentials to a downloader. Vidlune only handles public links that do not require an Instagram sign-in.
The key choice is scope, not which page says “download.” A pasted post URL is a request for one public video; an account-information export is a request made through your own account controls. They are not interchangeable routes.
One video
Download a single public Reel as an MP4
- Open the specific public Reel and copy its link.
- Paste the link into the Instagram Reels Downloader.
- Choose Download MP4 and let the browser finish the file.
This route is for a single supported public video, not a profile, private post, Story, photo, or multi-post account backup. It does not ask for an Instagram password or session cookie. If the goal is to find the resulting phone file, follow the camera-roll and Downloads guide.
Your own account
Request account information through Instagram
When you want information associated with your own account rather than one public post, open Instagram’s account settings and look for “Download your information” in Accounts Center. Meta’s explanation says these information controls are managed in Accounts Center and cover Instagram data. Follow the current choices shown by Instagram for the account and information you want.
Meta’s Accounts Center announcement describes Download Your Information and Access Your Information there. This is the official account route; it is separate from a third-party public-link downloader.
Do not assume an account export is a one-click replacement for a single video link, or that it will contain a particular file, resolution, or delivery time unless Instagram confirms that in the export flow. Review the current options before creating an archive.

A downloaded copy does not grant reuse rights
Only download media you own, have permission to save, or are otherwise legally allowed to use. Keep the original creator attribution and check the applicable Instagram and local rules before reposting, editing, or using a clip commercially. See Vidlune’s Terms of Use for this tool’s scope.
